Artists' residence
Since 1989, the Atelier Calder has been a place of residence and artistic creation. Located in Saché in Indre-et-Loire, this former workshop of the American sculptor Alexander Calder pursues a welcoming policy whose ambition is to enable artists to carry out specific projects, to pursue research or experimentation.
For three months, artists receive technical and financial support that encourages the creation of artistic projects.
On a regular basis, the Atelier Calder partners with venues (art centres, museums, historical monuments, etc.) to organise exhibitions following the residencies, allowing the public to discover the works produced in Saché.
A place of exchange and openness, the Atelier Calder encourages meetings between its residents and regional cultural actors (art schools, art centres, FRACs, museums, etc.), school groups through mediation activities and with the public as part of workshop visits.
The Atelier Calder is supported by the Ministry of Culture Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC Centre Val de Loire), the Centre Val de Loire Region and the Calder Foundation.
