Igor Porte

Igor Porte lives and works in Nantes.

A musician and visual artist, Igor Porte’s work focuses on rediscovering and revaluing things that might otherwise have been forgotten, destroyed, or overlooked. He explores the sonic and physical potential of objects, reactivating them and bringing them together to create a shifting soundscape, imbued with the histories and places they carry with them. He invites us to step inside and experience these vibrant environments.

During his residency at Atelier Calder, Porte developed a project entitled Wild Fusion Room (2024), which explored the integration of living matter into objects from the domestic sphere. Old furniture—carrying memories, traces of lived experience, and family heritage—was transformed to accommodate plants within the installation. In this reconfigured room, natural elements coexist and merge with electronic and sound-producing devices, creating a hybrid environment. This electronic and sonic ecosystem brings elements of the surrounding landscape into the installation, making them perceptible through sound, images, and performance.
